Doris Helen Boone Russell, 93, of Frisco, Texas went to meet our Lord on July 19, 2014. She passed away at The Medical Center, McKinney, Texas. She was born July 4th, 1921 in Higden, Arkansas, to James and Aimie Boone. She was the oldest of five children. After graduation she went to work for the Army Air Corp, where she met Sgt. Chester (Chet) Lee Russell, who would become the love of her life. She and Chet were married for 62 years until Chet's death in 2007, however, her devotion continued until her death. Doris was involved with many service and volunteer organizations. She was appointed by the New Mexico Congress of the Parent Teacher Association as a lifetime member recipient; she was also a lifetime member of the service sorority ßSF (Beta Sigma Phi), and The Church of Christ, Anthony, NM. She spent the majority of her business career as the bookkeeper for the family owned school bus contracting business. She and Chet raised their three sons in Anthony, New Mexico, where they spent the majority of their married life. Doris is survived by two sons, Richard Russell of El Paso, TX and Gary Russell and wife Kathy of Bullard, TX, daughter in law; Pam Russell, wife of deceased son Ronnie; brother; Ralph Boone of NM and sister, Marilyn Coffman of TX, grandchildren; Jason Russell, Michael Russell, Shawn Russell, Reese Russell, Joey Henning, Sheri Russell, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and, too many loving relatives and friends to list. She was preceded in death by her husband; youngest son, Ronnie; parents, sister, Billie Jo Kingholtz; and brother, Dale Boone. Doris was an amazing woman, full of life, wisdom and love. She had a wonderfully quick wit, a dry sense of humor, and was a prankster. But most importantly, Doris was a devout Christian and servant of God. One of the last things she said was, "Never allow yourself to wonder too far from the Lord". The following verse is how Doris lived her life: 2 Timothy 4:7 "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." It was Doris' wish to have an intimate graveside service. The interment, under the direction of Rev. Yates Folk of Anthony Church of Christ, will take place Monday, July 28th at 10:00 am at Anthony Cemetery, Anthony, NM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Anthony Church of Christ, PO Box 145, Anthony, NM 79821. Arrangements are with Getz Funeral Home, corner of Bowman and Solano.
