Dustin Lane Antes, 25 years of age, passed away in Las Cruces on Tuesday June 2, 2009. Dustin was born in Las Cruces on Sept. 22, 1983, to Dan and Carniece Antes. He attended Mayfield High School and was a percussionist in the Mayfield High School Band. After high school Dustin spent a short time attending New Mexico State University. He worked as a blacksmith and a mechanic and was skilled and well-versed concerning anything mechanical. He had a great many hobbies, including fishing, hunting, and collecting World War II memorabilia. Dustin was a quiet man, but his sense of honor impressed all he met and his sense of humor made fast friends. He had a great love of the outdoors and spent quite a bit of his time in the desert surrounding Las Cruces. There was never a more honest man, a more loving son, a more caring brother, or a more loyal friend. He is survived by his father and mother, Dan and Carniece Antes; his brother, Dorian Antes; his grandmother, Naomi Zell Lindsey; and a great many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dan and Pearleen Antes; and his grandfather, Glen H. Lindsey. Services will be held at Temple Baptist Church, 2300 Missouri Ave., at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, 2009. This world is poorer for his passing.
