Efrain Azcarate

Efrain Azcarate known to his close friends, family and colleagues as AZ, age 67 of El Paso, Texas, passed away on Feb. 18, 2013 at Providence Memorial Hospital. In 1965, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served as a medic. This, experience engendered a desire and drive to become a physician. Efrain attended the University of Texas, El Paso, and finished his premedical education at the University of New Mexico, Las Cruces. He then completed a Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine with a specialty in Emergency Medicine through the University of Michigan. Dr. Azcarate then returned to his beloved Southwest where he served his community for the remainder of his life. AZ is survived by his son Benjamin, daughter Mariel and granddaughter Audrey of Las Cruces, N.M.; his sister Yolanda; brother, Juan Jr. of El Paso, Texas; their spouses and children, as well as a multitude of adoring extended family throughout Texas. He is also survived by his wife Tracy and beloved daughters, sons and grandchildren by marriage: Breanne (Crissman) Carey, her husband John and their children: Tracy, Laurel, and Rebecca of Indianapolis, Ind.; Shannon Crissman of Phoenix, Ariz.; Robert Crissman of El Paso, Clayton Crissman, his wife Jennifer and their children Justin and Jaxon of Indianapolis, Ind. Dr. Azcarate is preceded in death by his father Juan M. Azcarate Sr; mother, Teresa Delgado Azcarate, and the bride of his youth and mother of his Children Diane L. Azcarate. Visitation and memorial service will held on Saturday March 2, 2013 at Perches Funeral home 7580 Alameda Ave. from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. The memorial service will begin promptly at 7 p.m. All who appreciated his service to community, befriended, or loved this very fine man are welcome to attend.
