Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Elvira P. Medina, 95, lifelong area resident left her dwelling place on earth and entered eternal life on Monday, Jan. 27, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 1, 1918 in Chamberino to Bernardo and Isabel Escarcega Porras. Mrs Medina was a homemaker. Those left to mourn her passing include three sons, Abel Medina and wife Gloria of Tempe, Arizona, Robert "Bobby" Medina and wife Elisa, Jaime Medina and wife Lettie all of Las Cruces; two daughters, Belia M. Diaz of Caushion, Arizona, Mina M. Bustamante and husband Raymond of Doña Ana; a daughter-in-law, Alicia Medina; a sister, Ofelia Murillo both also of Las Cruces. Other survivors include twenty grandchildren; forty-four great grandchildren; twenty great great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel D. Medina and a son, Danny Medina. Visitation for Mrs. Medina will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road where the Funeral Service is scheduled for 10 a.m. with Pastor Pepe Holguin officiating. Concluding Service and Interment will follow in Masonic Cemetery, 760 S. Compress Road where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband. Serving as casket bearers will be Tudy Diaz, Robert "Sonny" Medina, Raymond Bustamante Jr., Cory Medina, Andy Bustamante and Armando Medina. Honorary bearers will be Joseph Medina and the remaining grandchildren.
