Georgia Misquez

On Feb. 7, 2014, Georgia A. Misquez, 57, a lifelong resident of Las Cruces, an Angel on earth, was called back to be with our Heavenly Father. She was born June 15, 1956, to Ernesto and Rosina Nevarez and grew up in Tortugas. Georgia was a loving wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend. While on earth, Georgia took everyone she met under her wing. Her heart was open to everyone she came across, became the friend to share their joys, laughter, struggles and tears. She was the pillar of strength and encouragement for us all. She always went over and beyond to do things for her coworkers and students at NMSU, where she worked as an admissions specialist. Her dedication to NMSU proceeded over 30 years. Her passion was keeping up with the family tradition of climbing the A Mountain annually for the pilgrimage of Our Lady of Guadalupe. She was our own special burrito lady, making sure all her family and friends on the mountain were fed. She would do anything she could for someone who needed her help, opening her arms and heart to many people. Georgia was a communicant of Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine and Parish, where she taught catechism and was a member of OLG Holy Name Society. Her smile, her laugh and her hugs will be greatly missed. Especially by her loving husband and her one-n-only daughter. "May we see each other soon in my dreams mommy." "I will miss your laugh, hugs, love and your beautiful smile. I will never forget our love and I will always love you baby, love you. Your loving husband." Survivors include her loving husband of 36 years, Robert Misquez, of the family home; a daughter, Krystle O'Donnell and her husband, Kevin, of San Antonio, Texas; three brothers, Ernest Nevarez II and wife, Lupe, Moses Nevarez and wife, Hazel, all of Las Cruces, and Ronnie Nevarez and wife, Blanca, of Tortugas. Other survivors include her special nieces and nephews, Ernesto Nevarez III (Marcie), Christopher Nevarez (Diana), Joshua Nevarez, Aaron Nevarez, Amber Nevarez and Elizabeth Sanchez; great-niece and nephews, Larissa Nevarez, Ernest Nevarez IV, Nicholas Nevarez and Julian Nevarez, as well as numerous other nieces, nephews and godchildren and cousins, plus great-uncles and great-aunts. Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, maternal and paternal grandparents. Visitation for Georgia will begin at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, in the Shrine and Parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 3600 Parroquia Street in Tortugas, where the prayer vigil is scheduled for 7 p.m. The funeral liturgy will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, in the same church. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the Tortugas Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest. Serving as casket bearers will be Albert Marrujo, Arthur Marrujo, Lawrence Nevarez, Ernest Nevarez III, Christopher Nevarez and Rudy Nevarez. Honorary bearers will be her only son-in-law, Kevin O'Donnell and special nieces and nephews. Entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels of Las Cruces, 300 E. Boutz Road.
