Gloria Castillo

Gloria S. Castillo, 63, a Silver City resident, entered eternal life on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Gila Regional Medical Center unexpectedly. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2014, at 5 p.m. at Baca's Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary recited at 6 p.m. by Deacon Bill Holguin. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, March 7, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Newman Center Parish, the Rev. Anthony Basso officiating. Concluding services and interment will follow at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery. She was born Nov. 29, 1950, in Santa Rita, to Rita Ortiz and David Sanchez. Mrs. Castillo worked as a caregiver in the Grant County area. She enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking. She spent a lot of her time at her two grandsons' games, including football, baseball, basketball and track. She was always willing to give or help out in any way and never asked for anything in return. She was a competitive person who always thrived on winning and loved playing the scratchers and entering contests. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Ruben Castillo Sr., her two sons, Frank and his wife, Perla, and Ruben Castillo Jr., two grandsons Franky and Daniel Castillo, and a god-daughter, Sonia Sanchez, all of Silver City, three brothers and two sisters; Ruben Sanchez and his wife, June, of Seattle, Samuel Sanchez and his wife, Sylvia, of Las Cruces, and David Sanchez and his companion, Gaby, Esther Guerrero, all of Silver City, and Linda Flores and her husband, Sam, of Farmington, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and Uncle Raphael Ortiz. Serving as pallbearers are Franky and Daniel Castillo, Reyni Guerrero, David, Sammy Jr., and Joe Sanchez.
