Ida Margaret Brumbaugh, 93, of Las Cruces entered eternal rest Wednesday, July 30, 2014. She was born March 6, 1921, in Emporium, Pennsylvania, to William and Maude Evans McDowell. Ida attended Lock Haven State Teachers
College, and was an elementary school teacher in New York state for 25 years.
The Brumbaugh family moved to Las Cruces in 1975, where Ida was active in local volunteer organizations. She was a longtime volunteer at Memorial Medical Center, and an active member of the Progress Club of Las Cruces. Ida supported many church missions and programs as a member of the University United Methodist Church. She was a loving and generous person who enjoyed many activities with family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Anne Grant, and her son, Thomas Brumbaugh, both of Las Cruces, and a large extended family including grand and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Ida was preceded in death by her husband, James, and a son, John.
A celebration of life service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at the University United Methodist Church, 2000 S. Locust S. with the Rev. Cynthia Abrams officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in her name to the University United Methodist Church, 2000 S.
