I want to be an outrageous old woman who never gets called old lady. I want to get leaner and meaner, sharp edged and earth-colored till I fade away from pure joy. Jane K. Rogstad, age 97, passed away on Saturday. February 2nd, at the Mesilla Valley Hospice in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Jane was born on September 29th, 1915 to Harry and Genevieve Protzeller (Schutt) in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. Jane received a BA in Fine Arts at the University of Minnesota. She married Kent S. Rogstad in Fairmont, Minnesota on September 26th, 1938. They moved to Detroit Lakes after their marriage. She married George Hawkins on May 8th 2002 in Scottsdale, Arizona Jane and Kent had four children, David Rogstad, Diana Bomberg, Peter Rogstad and Christina Rogstad. Jane worked as an Interior Designer, Radio Host, and homemaker. She was a founding member of the Damien's Society and the 50 Club. She was an active artist and painted in water colour, pastels and acrylics. Jane's sense of adventure was fuelled by her passion for travelling. She travelled extensively around the world – Australia, New Zealand, Africa, Europe, China & Russia. She was always talking about her trips and where she was going next. She also liked to entertain friends and family. Jane was always busy and was involved in many activates during her life. She had a passion for life and enjoyed every minute of it. Jane is survived by her sister Betty and her children Peter (Anna) Rogstad, Diana (Frank) Bomberg and Christina Rogstad (Ross Brown), 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceeded in death by her first husband Kent Rogstad and her second husband George Hawkins. Her son David, grandchildren Michael and Becky. Her siblings Helen, Harry and Edward.
