Jeremy Lawrence Madrid, 20, of Las Cruces passed away Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013. Jeremy was born on Feb. 18, 1993 to Lawrence and Norma Madrid in Las Cruces. He was attending New Mexico State University and was in his senior year of pursuing his bachelors degree in Biology, with a minor in biochemistry and associates degree in criminal justice. He planned to continue his graduate studies in pharmacy at the University of New Mexico. He worked at Wal-Greens as a pharmacy technician and previously worked as a student employee of PSL at NMSU while attending school full time. He graduated from Las Montanas Charter High School in 2010 and he was the Valedictorian and the president of his senior class. Hobbies that brought Jeremy joy were marksmanship, archery, hunting, gaming, fishing and weight lifting. Jeremy was a member of the Pharmacy club, bass fishing team at NMSU and a participant of the New Mexico Desert Dogs Hunting club. Jeremy touched many lives with his heart of gold and will be missed greatly by all who knew him. Jeremy's life philosophy: "Everyone one has a talent, but not everyone can see it." He is survived by his parents Lawrence and Norma Madrid, brother Jared Madrid, the love of his life Briana Au, grandparents Abran and Maryann Madrid, Doris Tafoya, Chris Chavez and his wife Julie, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Pallbearers will be Jared Madrid, Adam Luna, Nathan Madrid, Orlando Madrid, Armando Andazola and Victor Ostos. Honorary pallbearers are Zeke Herrera, Tommy Montoya, Eric Chavez, Anthony Madrid, Gary Madrid, Gabriel Madrid and Michael Luna Jr. There will be a visitation on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, followed by a prayer vigil. The funeral mass will be on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Fr. Alejandro Reyes is officiating.
