Jesus G. "Cookie" Rios, 94, a resident of Santa Clara, N.M. entered eternal rest on Friday, Feb. 1, 2013 at the home of his son and daughter in law, Tommy and Anita (Nini) Rios in Silver City N.M.. He was born on Nov. 10, 1918 in Blackfoot, Idaho. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Born with a sharp mind, kind heart and suave sense of humor, he did not let his illness slow him down. His family is proud to be left with his legacy through his stories, a true legend in his own right. He was the owner of Blackfoot Welding &Tire Shop in Santa Clara as he enjoyed being a repairman in mechanics, carpentry, and welding fabrication among other trades. He enjoyed listening to music from all genres and incorporated this passion by being co-owner of "Cookie" the Star Music," which he loved providing as entertainment for family gatherings. He was also known for participating in Native American ceremonies locally and in the Las Cruces area. He is survived by his loving longtime companion Mickey Facio of Santa Clara; his special friend Sylvia Facio, of Santa Clara; two sons, Tommy G. Rios Sr. and wife Anita "Nini" of Silver City, and Joseph Rios of Silver City; and one daughter in law, Gloria Rios of Maricopa, Ariz.; two grandsons, Tommy Rios Jr. and wife Florentina of Silver City and James "Chamo" Morales of Silver City; four granddaughters, Lisa Serna and husband Jaime of Silver City; Stefanie Rojas and husband Ronnie of Silver City, Leticia Rios of Maricopa and Renee Holguin and husband Juan of Maricopa; great-grandchildren, Caroline and Gilbert Jesus Rios of Silver City, Zach and Zane Serna of Silver City, Jolyssa and Keanu Rojas of Silver City, James, Jayce, and Christopher Morales of Silver City, Desmond Rios, Joshua, Chantel, Josiah, Ciara Holguin of Maricopa, Janel, Jacqueline, and Sebastian Martinez of Maricopa; brothers-in-law Rodolpho, Martin, and Vicente Juarez; sisters-in-law Aurora Chavez, Lupe Carbajal, Rachel Valencia, Anita Morales, Teresa Montoya and Esperanza Perez. He is preceded in death by his wife, Isabel J. Rios, his son Antonio J. Rios, his daughter-in-law Reyna M. Rios; and his in-laws Bardo and Juanita Juarez. Viewing will be Thursday, Feb. 7 from 4 – 6 p.m. at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the vigil service and holy rosary to begin at 6 p.m. with Dr. Gilbert Arizaga reciting. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated Friday, Feb. 8 at 10 a.m. at the Santa Clara Catholic Church with Father Robert Becerra officiating. Concluding the service interment will follow at St. Vincent Catholic cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tommy Rios Jr., Gilbert Jesus Rios, James "Chamo" Morales, Zane Serna, Andrew Lopez, Juan Holguin and Jose Paz. Honorary pallbearers will be Sen. Howie Morales, Loretta Martinez, Zach Serna, Armando Sapien, Jaime Serna, Ronnie Rojos, Vanessa Carbajal, Sonia Carbajal, Tasha Sapien and Martin Facio.
