Rev. Jim Wood

Rev. Jim Wood, 89, passed away at Memorial Medical Center on July 10, 2013. Jim was born in Syracuse, N.Y. on June 18, 1924 to Carl and Ruth (Gelatt) Wood. Through his childhood years he witnessed both the stock market crash and the Depression, and through hard times, the family was able to keep the Dairy Business which is still in operation. Jim began his life in the Ministry in 1942 after high school, and that's where he met his future wife, Anna Belle, who he married in 1946. Together, they moved West and settled in Hatch, N.M. where they devoted their lives to serving God through their ministry. They were blessed with two daughters, Susan and Linda, and the family continued to serve through the Hatch Valley with the Church of God in Hatch and the Caballo Church as well. Anna Belle died in 1996 leaving Jim to pastor both churches by himself. With over 67 years of faithfully serving his flock, Jim was always there through their daily triumphs and tragedies and carried on with a smile, touching their lives, praying with them through hard times, graduations, weddings and funerals and his pride for the kiddos at Youth Camp. He has left behind, many precious reminders of his dedication and commitment to his church family and friends. Jim leaves behind his two daughters, Susan Wood of Midland, Texas and Linda and husband, Nobert Romero of Espanola, N.M.; two grandchildren he adored, Jaime and wife, Valerie and Denika Romero and great-grandchild, Lily; along with many nieces and nephews. Viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday, July 12, 2013 in the Chapel of Kirikos Family Funeral Home from 3 – 5 p.m. He will be honored by two services, which will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2013 - first at the HATCH Church of God at 10 a.m. with Mr. Joe Paul Lack officiating. And another service at the CABALLO Church at 2 p.m. with Brett Smith officiating, followed by interment in the Caballo Cemetery next to his beloved wife, Anna Belle. Serving as casket bearers will be family members. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the New Mexico Church of God Youth Camp, c/o Cheryl Gillis, P.O. Box 205, Hatch, NM 87937. Arrangements are by Kirikos Family Funeral Home, Inc., 303 N. Cedar St. (TorC, NM). For online condolences, please visit www.kirikosfamilyfuneralhome.com.
