Josephine S. Tamariz, 91, of La Mesa entered eternal life Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at Sagecrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born Nov. 19, 1921, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Hilario and Adelina B. Saenz. Josephine was fondly known to her family and friends as "Fina" or "Josie." She retired as a seamstress from Hanes and California Lingerie. Fina had no children of her own; she was a mother to all and was dearly loved and cherished by her brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Those left to mourn her passing include a brother, Charlie Saenz and wife Cuca of La Mesa; two sisters, Lillian Chavez and husband Ramon also of La Mesa, Mary "Tila" Savedra and husband Lorenzo of Norwalk, Calif. Other survivors include numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joaquin Tamariz; three brothers, Raúl, Rodolfo and Eduardo Saenz; two sisters, Dora Saenz and Anita S. Telles. Visitation for Fina will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, in San Jose Catholic Church, 353 Josephine St. in La Mesa where the prayer vigil is scheduled for 7 p.m. Family and friends will join together to celebrate the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, in the same church with Reverend Rogelio Martinez officiating. The rite of committal and interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. in Fort Bliss National Cemetery where she will lay to rest. Serving as casket bearers will be her nephews, John Savedra, Fred Chavez, George Telles, Charles Paul, Rudy and Raúl Saenz. Honorary bearers will be Rudy and Jerry Telles, Larry Savedra, Raymond, Joe, Christopher and Daniel Chavez.
