Juan Martinez

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Juan P. Martinez, 66, of Placitas, New Mexico, on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at MountainView Medical Center. He was born Feb. 8, 1948, in Placitas to Pablo and Amelia Martinez. Juan was a resident of Dona Ana, New Mexico, for 28 years. His passion was in music and came from a long line of musicians to include some of his brother's nephews and other family members. He played lead guitar in various bands. Juan was a master carpenter and cabinet maker. Juan will be remembered by his family as a very hard working gifted master carpenter and talented musician. He loved to sit on his porch and play the guitar for all of his grandbabies, whom he adored. Those left to mourn his passing include his wife of 34 years Angelina Martinez, three daughters Andrea Martinez, Sandra Martinez and Rosanna Martinez, his son James Martinez, his two brothers Jimmy Martinez, of Las Vegas, Nevada, and David Martinez of Las Cruces. His three sisters Virginia Chavez of Hatch, New Mexico, Sophia Martinez of Orlando, Florida, and Yolanda Davis of Radium Springs, New Mexico, as well as his beloved grandchildren, Ezrael Martinez, Javier Martinez, Joaquin Martinez, Marina Barron, Justin Martinez, Estevan Flores, Emilliano Flores, Oscar Torres, Sergio Martinez, Jozlynn Martinez, Carolina Flores and the baby Anjali Martinez. He was preceded in death by his parents Pablo and Amelia Martinez and his sister Esther Martinez. A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday July 2, 2014, at 2 p.m at the Church of the Nazarene at 1141 E. Hadley Ave., Las Cruces. Officiating will be the Rev. Ben Lopez.
