Looking to the beautiful night sky of Las Cruces these days, the stars seem to shine just a little keener as we remember the way Kris (Segerstom) Turrentine touched the hearts of so many in this community. She departed this life on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. What shines through the dark of night speaks of love, and loss, and the joys special people bring to our lives. Kris Turrentine lives on in what we know and what we will feel forever in our memories. Continue to hold her in a special place in your hearts. Surviving Kris are her husband, Jim; her daughters, Lisa Houdek and Anne Johnson; her son-in-law, Christian Houdek; grandchildren Annika and Carter; brother, Goran Bengtsson of Stockholm, Sweden, and sister-in-law, Ingrid; nephews, John Hassis and Thomas Bengtsson. Her blended family includes Jim's sons Ken and Brian Turrentine, and their children, Blake, Dawson, Grady, Dylan and Koby, who all loved her dearly. Across the Atlantic, her family in her native home of Sweden join this community of family and friends in Las Cruces who will so sorely miss Kris. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that Kris be remembered with donations to Mesilla Valley Hospice so that they may continue to do their good work. Let love touch us and do great things with the lives we are given. There will be no funeral service. A Life Celebration for our beloved Kris will be announced at a later time.
