Maria Gonzalez

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Maria Patrocinio Gonzalez, 84, of Mesilla left her dwelling place on earth and entered eternal life to be with her heavenly Father, Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 25, 1928 in Tepehuanes, Durango, Mexico to Remedios Corral and David Rios. Mrs. Gonzalez was a homemaker. She was a communicant at the Basilica of San Albino where she was a member of the church choir–the Adoracion Nocturna–a Cursillista and a 3rd Order Franciscan. Those left to mourn her passing include her loving husband of 65 years, Ignacio T. Gonzalez of the family home; six sons , David Gonzalez (Irene) , Gerardo Gonzalez (Lucinda), Sergio Ignacio Gonzalez (Paula), George Gonzalez, Francisco Gonzalez, Juan Diego Gonzalez (Fred); eight daughters, Valentina Hernandez, Carmen Cardon (Leonard), Jackie Galvan (Pete), Guadalupe Garcia, Teresita Corral (Carlos), Fatima Ray (Jimmy), Blanca Pryor (Craig), and Ester Gonzalez; two sisters. Manuela Rios of Las Cruces and Teresa Santana of California. Other survivors include 34 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Miguel Lopez, a sister, Sophia Lopez and a grandson, Army Cpl., Jesse M. Zamora. Visitation for Mrs. Gonzalez will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2013 in the Basilica of San Albino, 2070 Calle de Santiago in Mesilla where the prayer vigil is scheduled for 7 p.m. Family and friends will join together to celebrate the funeral mass at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013 in the same church. Bishop Ricardo Ramirez and Reverends Enrique Lopez, Richard Catanach and Juan Moreno will be concelebrating. The rite of committal and internment will follow in the San Albino Cemetery where she will be laid to rest. Serving as caskets bearers will be her sons, David, Gerardo, Ignacio, George, Francisco and Juan Diego Gonzalez. Honorary bearers will be her grandchildren.
