Mercedes Armendariz

Mercedes M. Armendariz, 93 of Berino entered eternal life Friday, Feb. 15, 2013 at La Posada - Mesilla Valley Hospice. She was born Oct. 5, 1919 in Mexico City, Mexico to Juan and Maria Ibarra Mendoza. Mercedes was a homemaker and very devoted to the Roman Catholic Church. Those left to mourn her passing include three sons, Francisco Armendariz and wife Josefina, Armando Armendariz and wife Maria all of Berino, and Benjamin Armendariz and wife Micaela of California; three daughters, Lupe Mercardo and husband Alex of Las Cruces, Carmen Gonzalez and husband Angel of Tucumcari and Mary Armendariz of Berino. Other survivors include seventeen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Nieves Armendariz in 2000, one brother and four sisters. Visitation for Mrs. Armendariz will begin at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, 2013 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road, where the prayer vigil is scheduled for 7 p.m. Family and friends will join together to celebrate the funeral mass at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013 in St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 224 Lincoln Street in Anthony with the Reverend Andres Alava, Celebrant. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the Berino Cemetery where she will lay to rest next to her husband. Serving as casket bearers will be Martin Bustillos, Mark Mercardo, Victor Montenegro, Tony Venegas, Peter Crockett and Ricardo Delgado.
