Omar Sanchez

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend, Omar Carlos Sanchez, 19, on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013. He was born Jan. 11, 1994 in Las Cruces to Oscar and Christina Ybarra Sanchez. Omar was a graduate of Mayfield High School Class of 2012. At the time of his death, Omar was a student at the Doña Ana Branch Community College and was a member of the Catholic Church. Those left to mourn his passing include his parents, Oscar and Christina Sanchez of the family home; sister, Sarah Magrogan and husband Richard and their daughters, Kylee Mei and Quinlan Roma Magrogan of Phoenix, Ariz.; his paternal grandmother, Eli Sanchez of Deming. Other survivors include numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lydia and Alejandro Ybarra; paternal grandfather, Oscar Sanchez; uncle, Alejandro Ybarra Jr. and aunt, Cathy Carrasco. Visitation for Omar will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013 in Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1327 N. Miranda Ave. where the prayer vigil is scheduled for 7 p.m. Family and friends will join together to celebrate the funeral mass at 10 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2013 in the same church with Rev. Alejandro Reyes officiating. The rite of committal and interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho Ave. where he will be laid to rest. Serving as casket bearers will be J.C. Gist, Chris "Turtle" Valles, Christopher, Javier, Gabe, Josh, Joseph and Pancho Ybarra. Entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels of Las Cruces. 527-2222.
