Raul Segura Turrieta III, 23, a resident of Mountain Home, Ark. and formally of Silver City, N.M. entered eternal rest Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at his residence. He was born Sept. 21, 1989 in Silver City. As a little boy, Raul was going to spread his wings and see the world the minute he turned 18 years old. He wanted to see the world just like his dad who did it once he turned 17 years old. He played youth basketball, baseball and soccer and really enjoyed playing chess at an early age. They lived off the grid for many years and they had no television or electronic items. He enjoyed reading, board games and playing cards. Raul III started playing golf just after he started walking. He had a plastic set of golf clubs and enjoyed hitting the golf balls. When he was in the 8th grade, he had the highest GPA and also qualified to play high school varsity golf. He played golf until the 11th grade and also ran cross country. He then decided to spread his wings when he turned 18 years old. He landed at a place called Mountain Home. There he enrolled himself in high school and graduated in Arkansas in 2008. Raul III was studying to become a minister and at the same time he bought his house at the age of 21. He was well respected in his community and had lots of friends that cared about him. Raul was a very kind person with a big heart. He would help anyone anytime. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. He is survived by his father, Raul Turrieta Jr. and wife Billie of Silver City; his mother, Gina Segura Turrieta of Silver City; stepmother, Janie Turrieta of Silver City; two brothers, Gino and Nathaniel Vannatter of Silver City; two sisters, Serina Rain Turrieta and Nicole Vannatter of Silver City; paternal grandfather, Raul B. Turrieta Sr.; maternal grandmother, Donna Smith; maternal great-grandmother, Betty Harber; aunts, Elena De la Torre of Truth or Consequences, Alice T. Green of Denver, Colo., Dolores Shauvin of Denver; maternal aunts, Stacey Touriel and Kathlyn Alvarado; uncles, Michael Steven Turrieta of South Korea; Richard "Bubba" Turrieta of Morenci, Ariz.; Ruben Turrieta of Silver City; maternal uncle, Greg Smtih; three great uncles, Manuel Sierra of San Antonio, Texas; Esteban Sierra and wife Shelly of Silver City, Manuel Barela Turrieta of Hanford, Calif. Visitation of family and friends will be held Monday, April 8 at Terrazas Funeral Chapels from 5 – 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 9 at 10 a.m. at Terrazas Funeral Chapels.
