Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Refugia "Ruth" "Cuca" V. Barrio, 76, of Las Cruces and formerly of Lordsburg, entered eternal life Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born to Juan de Dios and Carmen Nevarez Verdugo on Nov. 1, 1936 in Lordsburg. "Ruth" or "Cuca" as she was fondly known to her family and friends, was a homemaker and a member of the Catholic Church. Those left to mourn her passing include two sons, Eddie "German" Barrio and wife Julie of Lacey, Wash., Rick Barrio and wife Denise of Las Cruces; two daughters, Teresa Barrio of Las Cruces, Marie Gonzalez of Lordsburg; a brother, Isidro Verdugo of Lordsburg; and a sister, Petra Marquez of San Manuel, Ariz. Other survivors include 14 grandchildren, Korey, Cito, Patricia "Cuquita", Leticia, Jonathan, Rikki and Ryan Barrio, Ernesto Lopez, Brianna and Jordin Ramirez, Tonito, Antionette, Raquel and Daniel Gonzalez; two great grandchildren, Karsen and Eddie "E.J." Barrio, IV. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eddie "Lalo" Barrio; daughter, Guadalupe Barrio; grandson, Christopher Joseph Barrio; two brothers, Octavio and Valente Verdugo and a sister, Gloria Figueroa. Visitation for Mrs. Barrio will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 416 E. Second St. in Lordsburg where the prayer vigil is scheduled for 7 p.m. Family and friends will join together to celebrate the funeral mass Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the same church. The rite of committal and interment will follow in Shakespeare Cemetery where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband. Serving as casket bearers will be Ernesto Lopez, Jonathan, Cito and Ryan Barrio, Noah and Daniel Gonzalez, Raúl Figueroa and Hugo Esquivias.
