Regina Parazin

Regina Ann Conkling Parazin passed away Wednesday afternoon March 27, 2013 after losing her fourth battle with cancer. Devoted wife of William D. Parazin, Regina was the loving mother of Lee Ann Carroll Myllymaki of Great Falls, Mont., Gina Carroll of San Jose, Calif. and Daniel Carroll of Washington, Ill., fond grandmother of Jesse Gleason, Keelie Gassett, Nathan Reha, Benjamin Reha, Samuel Reha, John Carroll (deceased) Kathryn Jean Carroll Haley and great-grandmother of nine. Regina was born May 13, 1936 in the Illinois town of Rock Falls and grew up in East Peoria Ill. where she attended the local high school. She was awarded a master's degree in social work by the University of Texas at Arlington and had her own marriage and family counseling practice in The Woodlands, Texas. She later moved to San Jose where she met her husband William. Moving to the Las Cruces, N.M. area in 2006, she started putting her people skills to use there as part of the Mesilla Valley Mall's Customer Service Kiosk team. In her capacity as a sponsor for several 12-step programs she has helped hundreds of people across the world maintain freedom from their many addictions. Present at her passing were her husband William, daughter Gina, son Daniel, granddaughter Kathryn, longtime friend Beatriz Ontiveros of San Jose, and classmates Ruth Wantling and Donna Libbey, East Peoria High School '54. Regina passed into the hands of God while Ms. Ontiveros was reading to her from the Holy Scripture Book of Psalms. A memorial mass, interment in the Columbarium and a reception will take place on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1327 N Miranda St., Las Cruces, NM 88005 at 10 a.m. Please omit flowers and instead make a contribution to the .
