Reyes Gonzales

Our beloved father, grandfather and friend, Reyes M. Gonzales, 83, of Las Cruces, entered eternal life to be with his heavenly Father on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Reyes was born Jan. 5, 1931, in San Miguel to Demetrio and Eloisa Marquez Gonzales. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. Reyes worked for Western Electric Heating and Cooling for many years, and was a member of the VFW Post 10124. Those left to mourn his passing include his son, Reyes Gonzales Jr. and wife, Terry; his daughter, Micaela "Missie" Gonzales and fiancé, Arthur Barela, all of Las Cruces. Other survivors include two grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Reyes was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Ysidora Ontiveros Gonzales in 1982, a son, Javier Gonzales in 1987, four brothers and four sisters. At Mr. Gonzales' request, cremation has taken place and a memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2014 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road with the Rev. Dwayne Thompson officiating. Inurnment of cremains will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho Ave. with military honors accorded by the New Mexico National Guard Honor Guard and the Marine Corps League- El Perro Diablo Detachment.
