Ricarda Niño

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Ricarda Jimenez Niño, 85, longtime resident of Del Cerro Estates in Mesquite, N.M., left her dwelling place on earth and entered eternal life to be with her heavenly Father on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at La Posada-Mesilla Valley Hospice, surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 3, 1928, in Cedillos, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Luis and Paz Tarango Jimenez. Mrs. Niño was a homemaker, and a lover of flowers and gardening. She was a communicant at San Pedro Mission. Those left to mourn her passing include her loving husband, Lorenzo Niño, of the family home; three sons, Victor Niño and wife, Lilia, of Indio, Calif., Miguel Niño and wife, Blasa, of La Mesa, Omero Niño and wife, Blanca, of Las Cruces; three sisters, Felipa Contreras, Enedina Holguin and Romanita Salazar, all of Indio. Other survivors include eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers and five sisters. Visitation for Mrs. Niño will begin at 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road, where the prayer vigil is scheduled for 6 p.m. Family and Friends will join together to celebrate the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, in San Pedro Mission, 137 Lomas Avenue in Del Cerro Estates, with the Rev. Rogelio Martinez officiating. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in Masonic Cemetery, 760 S. Compress Road in Las Cruces, where she will be laid to rest.
