Robert Steve "Peewee" Barraza, 57, a resident of Santa Fe, N.M., died July 30, 2013 at UNM Hospital in Albuquerque, N.M. He was born March 14, 1956 in Silver City, N.M. to Alfredo A. Barraza and Susie Yniguez. He was a graduate of Cobre High School and Western New Mexico University. He proudly served his country in the US Army. Robert had friends wherever he went. He had knowledge in many aspects of life and could keep any conversation going. He loved fishing and the outdoors. He developed a skill for carving, and his Santos (saints) are cherished by those lucky enough to have received one from him. Robert is survived by his father, Alfredo Barraza of San Manuel, Ariz.; his mother, Susie Yniguez of Tucson, Ariz.; his children, Brandi Nichole Barraza of Hurley; Spencer Robert Holman of Albuquerque and Chloe Cherice Barraza of Guymon, Okla.; his grandchildren, Elizette, Emmanuel, Olivia, Anthony and Myles; his siblings, M. Fred Barraza and wife Jennifer of Arenas Valley; Patricia Rajaniemi of El Paso, Texas; Lisa Piper of Santa Maria, Calif. and Marissa Yniguez of Santa Fe; numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 5 at 11:30 a.m. at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with Dr. Gilbert Arizaga reciting the holy rosary. Concluding service inurnment will follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery with full military honors. Pallbearers will be Spencer Holman, Fred Barraza, Eddie Misquez III, Max Misquez, Ronnie Rodriguez and Tracy Thomas. Cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory.
