Stanley Ediger Obituary

Stanley Ediger, age 75, died peacefully Friday, May 2, 2014 at his home in Las Cruces, New Mexico with his family at his side. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Jo Ingle; his daughter, Katie of Chicago; brother, David of Mesa, Arizona; and loving nieces and nephews. With academic degrees in physics, mathematics, and chemical engineering as well as a long time interest in economics, Stan was a determined problem solver. Moreover, he was a talented teacher whose experience ranged from teaching mathematics as an early Peace Corps volunteer in the Philippines (1962-64) to teaching at several colleges and universities. In 2005 he retired after 20 years of service as an instructor of mathematics at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. He was a kind, gentle man who put everyone he met at ease; he will be remembered for his intelligence, his caring, a great smile and an impish sense of humor. A memorial service is planned for 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 31, 2014, at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Las Cruces, 2000 S. Solano. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Nature Conservancy in his honor. Services were entrusted to La Paz-Grahams Funeral Home.

Jo, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I have fond memories of talking with you and Stan in the 3rd ward Community Gardens and seeing you both in Hibbard and on Ripley. I was always struck by Stan's gentleness, which I am sure touched many, many lives.
