Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Wilhelm S. Atts, 76, of Las Cruces left his dwelling place on earth and entered eternal life to be with his heavenly Father on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at La Posada-Mesilla Valley Hospice. He was born Feb. 22, 1937 in Germany to Michael and Margaret Atts. Wilhelm retired from the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum as an animal caretaker and was a communicant at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Those left to mourn his passing include his loving wife, Gloria G. Atts of the family home; two sons, Marko Atts and wife Cheryl of Las Cruces, Johannes Atts and wife Monica of Roy City, Texas; a daughter, Heidi Pattarozzi and husband Dan of Las Cruces; and a brother, Albert Atts of Germany. Other survivors include 10 grandchildren, Ashley Gilardi, Emilee, Benjamin, Bjorn, Erica, Alaric and Bianca Atts, Andre Montgomery, Phoebe and Samuel Pattarozzi as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings; and a niece, Maryann Franks. Visitation for Mr. Atts will begin at 12 p.m. Tuesday (today), March 26, 2013 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road where recitation of the holy rosary will begin at 2 p.m. Family and friends will join together the celebrate the funeral mass at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2013 in Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1327 N. Miranda with Rev. Alejandro Reyes officiating. Inurnment of cremains will follow in the St. Francis Columbarium. Entrusted to Baca's Funeral Chapels of Las Cruces and Sunset Crematory. 527-2222.
