Charles P. Carlson, age 83 of Las Cruces entered eternal life Monday, January 20, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born in Casper, Wyoming on November 2, 1930. A graduate of the University of New Mexico, he served his country honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked for the space program in Florida, Chicago, Illinois for Allied Signal, Vandenberg Air Force Base, California for the space program, and then to White Sands with Lockheed, retiring in 1993. Together with his wife, Katherine Carroll Carlson, whom he married in 1966, they settled in Las Cruces. He was much loved for his sense of humor and storytelling. He is survived by his wife, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister. A special thank you to Mary Carroll-Egelston and Anna Lee Bernstein for their loving care. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. with a Memorial Mass scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. Monday, January 27, 2014 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1327 N. Miranda St. with Monsignor John E. Anderson, Celebrant. Internment of cremains will follow in St. Francis Garden Columbarium. Military honors will be accorded by the Marine Corps League – El Perro Diablo Detachment.
