It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the death of our loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, Douglas A. Watson, 72, of Las Cruces, on Oct. 26, 2013. Born in Pontiac, Mich. on June 25, 1941, Doug earned his bachelor's degree from Eastern Michigan University and his master's degree in library science from the University of Michigan. He served his community for over 20 years as a librarian from the Macomb County Library in Mt. Clemens, Mich. After he and his wife retired, they moved to Las Cruces. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Carol Watson. Doug leaves behind his loving wife, Roberta; his sister, Ellen Johnson; and his sons, William Volway, John Watson, William Watson and Matthew Watson; as well as his beautiful granddaughter, Victoria Volway; and handsome grandson, Jacob Volway. Other survivors include numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Doug's selflessness and dedication to his family make it all the more difficult to accept his death. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. No public services are planned. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels, 300 E. Boutz Road, Las Cruces; 527-2222.
