Jaime Gonzalez Obituary
On April 7, 2014, Jaime Arturo Gonzalez, our beloved brother, entered eternal life. He will always be remembered by his belief that life is a stopping place along the road to eternity where we will have everlasting life with our Heavenly Father. Jaime was born on Sept. 8, 1949 in Chihuahua, Mexico to Isidro and Maria de Lourdes Gonzalez. He resided in Fairfield, California for most of his life. He attended elementary school in El Paso, Texas, and middle school and high school in Las Cruces. He was a 1968 graduate of Las Cruces High School where he excelled in track and cross country, setting several cross country records. He joined the United States Air Force and completed his 26 year career in 1995. Jaime was passionate about serving God, his country, and dedicating his life to his family, taking advantage of every opportunity to have a party. He loved the ocean and collected coins, books, and 33 RPM Oldies Albums. He found many of his treasures by going to thrift shops wherever he traveled. Jaime learned to play the piano at a young age and loved all kinds of music. Jaime has found his true treasure in heaven. Our Lord's blessings flowed through his life, and he blessed everyone whose life he touched. We know that God is the Alpha and the Omega. God started Jaime's life, and in turn, Jaime had a tremendous purpose throughout his serve. God also gave Jaime courage, grace and strength to face every challenge in his life. At the end, after a life of integrity that never faltered; faith in a merciful, all-powerful, and ever-living God; and love, joy and appreciation for his family and friends, God called him home. I am sure God said, "Well done! I am your reward!" An eternal life with no more hardship, pain or suffering. Victory in the happiness of the glory of God! Jaime was preceded in death by his parents, and a younger sister, Sara Genoveva. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo; his daughters, Alicia Anne Murrell (Jason), and Lorraine Nicole Meek (Nate); his grandchildren Dylon, Landon, and Gavin Murrell; Austin, Lana, and Aviah Meek; and their mother Valrie Gonzalez, all of Fairfield, California; his sisters, Lucy Leyva, and Gabriela Lucero (Jake); his brothers, Isidro Gonzalez Jr., and Roberto Gonzalez, and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be held on May 17, at 12:00 p.m., at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church, 100 S. Espina, Las Cruces, New Mexico. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital in his name. Let us celebrate Jaime's life by wearing his favorite color…blue. When we look up at the sky, we will always see his smile from heaven and know that he's ok.
