Jaime Vallejo, 64, of Las Cruces, N.M., went to be with his heavenly father on Monday, June 24 2013. He was born on Jan. 14, 1949 to Alfredo and Margarita Vallejo in Los Angeles. Jaime proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Navy and later became commander of both the San Francisco and Las Cruces chapters of the D.A.V. After his term in the military, Jaime spent some time as a percussionist in a band in the 1970s and then began his life's work-auto body repair. His mastery of the art was second to none, and he eventually opened and ran his own repair shop for more than 15 years, sharing his knowledge with countless people along the way. Jaime was also heavily involved in his community, where he coached little league and high school baseball with success and generously sponsored local events at every turn. After moving to Las Cruces, Jaime enjoyed the simpler things in life, spending time with his wife, Lisa, by their pool and rooting for the hometown Aggies. Above all, Jaime was dedicated to his family and friends, giving everything he had to ensure those he loved were happy and well. His kindness, humor, energy and passion will truly be missed. Jaime is survived by his wife Lisa Vallejo of Las Cruces, N.M.; his sons Diego and Matteo Vallejo both of San Francisco, Calif.; his brother Eduardo Vallejo and his wife Cindy, of Las Cruces. Jaime was preceded in death by his parents, Alfredo and Margarita Vallejo and his brother Alfredo. Visitation for Jaime will be held on Thursday, June 27 at the Getz Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m., followed by a prayer vigil at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 28 at Our Lady of Health Catholic Church. At his request, his cremation will follow the services. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Kidney Foundation. Arrangements are with Getz Funeral Home and Getz Family Crematory, 1410 E. Bowman Ave, Las Cruces, NM 88001. To sign the local online guest book, visit http://www.getzcares.com/
