Kathrin Perez Dinwiddie, 62, a Cliff, NM resident, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014 surrounded by her family. Kathrin was born in Mountainair, NM and raised in Encino, NM. She moved to Reserve and took a job as a school teacher after completing her bachelor's degree from Eastern New Mexico University. In Reserve, she met her husband, Harold ""Chuck"" Dinwiddie. They married in 1976. She continued her education at Western New Mexico University, obtaining master's degrees in Business and Psychology. Chuck and Kathrin moved to Cliff in 1981 with their two young children, Hollis and DesiRhea. Kathrin worked as a guidance counselor and business teacher at Cliff High School for many years and was actively involved in her community, church and school. She later took a job as the guidance counselor at Silver High School, where her passion was her students, helping them continue their education and realize their dreams. She was beloved by so many of her students. They always knew that Mrs. D's door was open. Kathrin was a devoted wife and mother and she cherished the time she had with her family after she retired. She was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Perez. Kathrin is survived by her mother, Jewel Perez; her husband, Chuck Dinwiddie; her two children, Hollis Dinwiddie and DesiRhea Spurr; her sister, Diana Gallegos; her brothers, Michael, Jeffery and Chris Perez; her granddaughter, Presley Spurr and many cousins, nieces and a nephew. The Holy Rosary will be held on Monday, Jan. 27, 2014 at 6 p.m. at San Isidro Catholic Church with Jude Gallegos reciting. The funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014 at 10 a.m. also at San Isidro Catholic Church in Gila, NM with Father McDonald officiating. Concluding service interment will follow at Cliff-Gila Mesa cemetery. Pallbearers will be Hollis Dinwiddie, Michael, Jeffery and Chris Perez, Jude and Matthew Gallegos.
