Lawrence "Larry" Wade, 57, of Las Vegas, passed away July 20, 2013, due to cardiac arrest. Larry was born Aug. 6, 1955, to Warren Wade and Emma Barela, in Taos, N.M. He graduated from Taos High School and continued on to receive an associate's degree as a registered nurse, certified in psychology, from New Mexico State University. Lawrence was a civil servant, working as a fireman, an EMT and nurse in New Mexico, then offering his talents to the Las Vegas Metro Police Department in the Clark County Detention Center and completing his career in the city of Las Vegas Detention Center. Known as "Nurse Larry," he was held in high esteem by his peers. Larry was a lifetime member of the ARRL and enjoyed beading, embroidery and his favorite, Las Vegas buffets. Larry loved and adored his beloved Chihuahua babies. He was a cigar aficionado and actively involved in learning about his heritage through tracing his family tree. Larry was married to Ruth Wagner Aug. 2, 1980 for 19 years, then to Terri Willis Sept. 29, 2000 for 12 years. He is survived by his wife, Terri; daughter, Tiffany; son-in-law, Scott; step-daughters, Chelyn and Alana; grandchildren, Valerie and Sawyer; and other family and friends. He was a big man with a big heart. He will be held in the hearts of those who love him. A celebration of life open gathering will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, at the Henderson Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nev.
