Leonard Loraine Mullenix, 94, died July 13, 2014 at his home in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He was born Dec. 9, 1919, in Chase, Kansas, the son of George and Lola (Fuson) Mullenix. He married Audrey Estella Schwerdtfeger on Oct. 12, 1941, in Bushton, Kansas. He had radio repair shops in Claflin and Bushton, Kansas, in the late 1930s and 1940s. Following World War II, he worked as a service technician for Sears and Montgomery Ward. He later was employed as an electronics technician for the Federal Aviation Administration, retiring after 16 years. Mr. Mullenix was a Las Cruces resident who had previously lived in Kansas and New Mexico. He was a United States Army veteran, serving during World War II. He is survived by wife, Audrey Estella Mullenix, of the family home; six daughters, Charlotte Zielke and husband, Clyde, of Rockledge, Florida, Kerry Cleveland and husband, Terry, of Roswell, New Mexico, Kathy Scribner and her husband, Eddie, of Las Cruces, Patricia Jones and husband, Steve, of Ponder, Texas, Linda Harden and husband, Paul, of Ashland, Kansas, and Judy Green and husband, David, of Franklin, Tennessee; 19 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Marvin Mullenix, Bernard Mullenix, Clarence Mullenix, Stanley Mullenix and Oren Mullenix; and one sister, Georgie Grizzell. The funeral service is at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Interment will be at Bushton Cemetery, Bushton, Kansas. Visitation is from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 19, 2014, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, 415 N. Main, Hoisington, KS. Memorials are suggested to Mesilla Valley Hospice, in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Cards of condolence may be sent to Audrey Mullenix at 151 Roadrunner Pkwy., Bungalow #407, Las Cruces, NM 88011.
