Manuel Sanchez Turrey, age 76, of Las Cruces entered enteral life Friday, November 8, 2013 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center with his loving wife at his side. "Manny", as he was fondly known to family and friends, was born December 3, 1936 in Santa Rita to Bruno and Teresa Sanchez Turrey. He served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1959 to 1965. Manny retired from General Motors where he worked as an inspector. He was a volunteer at El Caldito Soup Kitchen where he served on the Board of Directors. Manny was a member of the Roman Catholic Church; was a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus, as well as a member of the Gamboa Council #9527. Those left to mourn his passing include his loving wife of thirty-six years, Maria Consuelo Garcia Turrey of the family home; two sons, John Peter Cruz and wife Georgia and Daniel Cruz all of Sacramento, California; one brother, Jesus Turrey and wife Lupe; three sisters, Adelida Monague, Marta Valencia and Mercedes Lopez, all also of California. Other survivors include two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Manny was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Visitation for Mr. Turrey will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1327 N. Miranda Street where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 7 p.m.. Family and friends will join together to celebrate the Holy Mass of Resurrection at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 14, 2013 in the same church with the Reverend Ray Flores and the Reverend Alejandro Reyes concelebrating. Military honors will be accorded by the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard and the Marine Corps League - El Perro Diablo Detachment. Concluding Services and Interment will take place at a later date in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Los Altos, California. Serving as casket bearers will be Manuel, Eric and Gabriel Chavez, Bill Cornelius, Robert Barnard. Service arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels, 300 E.
