Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Alejandra Alvarado, 95, of Las Cruces left her dwelling place on earth and entered eternal life to be with her heavenly Father, Thursday, July 30, 2009, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 26, 1914, in Candelaria, Texas, to Antonio and Clara Fierro. Mrs. Alvarado was a homemaker and a member of the Catholic Church.

Survivors include two sons, Roberto Alvarado and wife, Reyes, of San Miguel, and Manuel Alvarado of Las Cruces; two daughters, Maria Robles and husband, Pablo, and Vicki Gamboa, all of Las Cruces; a sister, Petra Mesa, of Clint, Texas. Other survivors include 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pedro Alvarado; a son, Peter Alvarado; two brothers, Gregorio and Nabor Fierro; two sisters, Mauricia Nunez and Genoveva Romero.
Visitation for Mrs. Alvarado will begin at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road where the prayer vigil is scheduled for 7 p.m. Family and friends will join together to celebrate the Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009, in San Miguel Catholic Church, 19217 S. Highway 28 with the Rev. Guillermo Acosta officiating. The Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the San Jose Cemetery.
Serving as casket bearers will be Adrian Gamboa, Oscar "Marty" Alvarado, Joseph Cabrales, Nathaniel "Gordo" Montoya, Lola Robles and Mary Alvarado. Honorary bearers will be Peter Robles, Robert Alvarado Jr., Isaiah Granados and Judah Archuleta.
