Arthur "Tudie" Holguín, of Santa Clara, New Mexico, died Friday following emergency surgery resulting from complications related to diabetes and Alzheimer's disease. Born in Central (Santa Clara), New Mexico, April 24, 1930, to Gregorio Fresques Holguín and Luisa Horcasitas de Holguín. Tudie lived a life of faith with his loving wife of 64 years, Lily Benavidez Holguín. Following a successful career as one of the first Chicano computer analysts throughout the 1950's and 60's at Kennecott Mining Company in Salt Lake City, Utah and a second retirement from Allied Signal in Phoenix, Arizona, Tudie and Lily returned home to Santa Clara to live out their life in a beautiful home Tudie built for Lily. Tudie was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for life. All who came to know him were brightened by his love of music, hunting, fishing and camping. He was the rock of the Holguin family and lived life passionately with unshakable faith. Beyond his own family, Tudie was always willing and eager to help other friends and family. Countless will remember Tudie as a father figure, compadre and friend. Tudie is survived by his wife, Lily, his daughter Erminda Garcia and her husband Gene, his daughter Martha Baca and her husband Frank Torres, his son Ricardo "Champ" Aguirre and his wife Katherine, his son Ronald "Sonny" Aguirre and his wife Barbara, and was preceded in death by his daughter Hope "China" Aguirre. Tudie is survived by 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and preceded in death by his grandson Ika Ricardo Aguirre. His loving grandchildren and their families are: Joaquin Aguirre, Marisol Garcia and her son Vicente Castro, Javier Baca, his wife Maria and their sons Xoaquín, Adán and Diego, Joel Aguirre, his wife Lucinda and their daughter Neveah, Ava Gomez, her husband Peter and their children Joaquin, Julian and Jiana, Marivel Pesqueira, her husband Jimmy and their children Andres Gonzalez, Marissa, Santiago, Gabriel and Olivia, Malina Aguirre and her son Hayden, Armando Aguirre and son Canyon Ika, Gregorio "Baba" Aguirre, Jessica Hayes and Shaylyn Aguirre. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 24th from 5-7pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the prayer vigil and holy rosary to begin at 7pm with Deacon Richard Rodriguez reciting. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 25th at 2pm at Santa Clara Catholic Church with Father Robert Becerra officiating. The interment will follow at the Santa Clara cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Padilla, George and Greg Holguin, Henry Andazola, Manuel Lucero, Johnny Sierra, Gilbert and Joe Barrios. Honorary pallbearers will be Ruben and Rudy Ramirez, Danny Saiz, Tommy Holguin, Sammy Saenz and Joaquin Aguirre.
