It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, son, father, and friend, Carlos "Oso" Gomez, II, age 33 of Las Cruces on Thursday, March 22, 2012. "Oso", as he was fondly known to family and friends, was born April 4, 1978 in Las Cruces to Carlos and Mary Davis Gomez. Those left to mourn his passing include his loving wife of seven years, Christina J. Gomez of the family home; son, Carlos Nayo Gomez; daughter, Krista Lyn Gomez; his father, Carlos Gomez; two brothers, Christopher and Timothy Lytton; a niece Onita Mitchell; nephew, Johnny Mitchell; all of Las Cruces; four aunts, Patricia Wilson of Savannah, GA., Alice Clark, Flora Padilla, and Josie Perez also all of Las Cruces; three uncles, Bill Wilson of Savannah, GA., Juan Perez and Paul Padilla also of Las Cruces. Other survivors include his brother-in-law, Ramon Leza; sister-in-law, Davina Leza; his mother-in-law, Lynda Leza all also of Las Cruces, and numerous cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Elizabeth Lytton, a sister, Marie Gomez; grandmothers, Lucile Knight and Cecilia Perez, great-grandmother, Lola Lucero and grandfather, Jesus Carlos Gomez. Visitation for Oso will begin at 6 PM Thursday, March 29, 2012 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road, where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 7 PM. Family and friends will join together at 10 AM Friday, March 30, 2012 to celebrate the Funeral Mass in St. Genevieve's Catholic Church, 100 S. Espina Street with the Reverend Ricardo Bauza, Celebrant. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Masonic Cemetery, 760 S. Compress Road where he will be laid to rest. Serving as casket bearers will be Nelson and Marcos Sotelo, Frankie Duran, Timothy Willard Ernie and Louie Padilla. Honorary bearers will be Joey Dominguez, Reymie Nevarez and Nick Murphy. "Oso" was a wonderful loving and caring person who was loved by many and will be greatly missed. At his request, no photos should be taken, absolutely no cell phones or cameras please.
