Carrol Allen Porter, 82, a resident of Silver City, N.M. entered eternal rest Saturday, June 9, 2012 at his residence. He was born Dec. 6, 1929 to Cary E. Porter and Mae (Ford) Porter in Houston. He proudly served his country in the Marine Corps from 1947-1950. He retired from Kennecott where he was an Assistant Engineering Draftsman. Carrol was also co-owner of the Hester House. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Dorothy A. Porter from the family home; one son, William "Bill" C. Porter and wife Kathy of Montrose, Colo.; one daughter, Alison Kay Hunter of Silver City; five grandchildren, Shiela, CW, Elizabeth, Jessica and Jonathan; eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Lloyd Porter. Visitation will be Thursday, June 14 from 9 - 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1st Ward, 3755 N. Swan St. with the funeral service to follow at 10 a.m. with Bishop Jeremy Lewis officiating. Dedication of the grave will be Friday, June 15 at 1 p.m. at Fort Bayard National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be William C. Porter, CW Porter, Jonathan Hunter, Gary Hunter, Nate Robinson and Mark McCaffery.
