Dale Andrew Stone cashed in his final chips on Jan. 1, 2013 after a long, debilitating illness. Dale was born in Pennsylvania but came to New Mexico as an infant. He was raised in and near Los Alamos and graduated from Los Alamos High School in 1971. He became a freshman at New Mexico State University that fall and began a love affair with Las Cruces that lasted 41 years. He received both his bachelor's and master's degrees from NMSU. Dale never married and had no children but he had many, many friends whom he dearly loved. He always claimed that good friends are the most important ingredient of a good life. Dale was an avid fisherman and boating enthusiast. He spent many a summer weekend on Caballo or Elephant Butte Lake. He also found tremendous pleasure in work and made many of his friends during business hours. Dale had a very diverse career and belonged to a number of community service organizations. As a result, he made friends in many different walks of life. Dale will be remembered for his gregarious and generous nature by all who knew him.
