Dora Valencia Merino passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family and friends on September 7, 2012. Visitation will begin at 5 pm on Monday, September 10, 2012 at Baca's Funeral Chapels where the prayer vigil will take place at 6 pm led by Deacon Bill Holguin. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Tuesday, September, 11, 2012 at 10 am at the San Juan Church followed by internment at the San Juan Cemetery. Officiating will be Father Barreto She was born November 28, 1921 in San Lorenzo, NM. She lived her whole life in the Mimbres Valley with her husband Lloyd Merino. Lloyd and Dora were married for over 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents Juan and Adela Valencia, brother Jesus Valencia and sister Bersabe Hinojosa. She is survived by her children are Olivia Bailey (Don), Arthur Merino (Annette), Melba Parra (Tom), and John Lloyd Merino. Grandchildren are Theresa, Sandy, Noelle, Kendrah, Jeremiah, Jennifer, Lloyd, Jessica, Jonathon, and Odette. Great-grandchildren are Amanda, Alex, Seth, Sheena, Lauren, William, Joey, and Felizia. She was attended to by her loving caregiver, Maria Hernandez. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and home maker who retired from the Cobre Public Schools after 24 years of working as a dietician at San Lorenzo Elementary. She and her husband Lloyd farmed and ranched in the valley. She loved to play the slot machines, sew, and cook for everyone that came to her home. Pallbearers will be Tom Parra, Paul Valencia, Michael Valencia, Jonathon Merino, John Valencia, and Jacob Penn.
