Eliseo R. Valdez, 78, of Las Cruces, entered eternal life Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013 at Casa de Oro Care Center. He was born Jan. 11, 1935 in Garfield to Eulogio and Vicenta Rodriguez Valdez. Eliseo was a barber by trade and a member of Family Worship and Praise Center. Those left to mourn his passing include his loving wife, Catalina Tapia Valdez of the family home; two sons, Henry Valdez and wife Lolita, Elmo Valdez and wife Denise, all of Las Cruces; two brothers, Elias R. Valdez, of Las Cruces, Gonzalo Valdez, of El Paso, Texas; three sisters, Delia Muñoz, of Mesa, Ariz., Anita Quintana, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Lola De Frates, of San Diego, Calif. Other survivors include three grandsons, Henry Jr., Joel and Jacob Valdez; four great granddaughters, Kali, Victoria, A'Lea and Zaria Valdez. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and a sister. Visitation for Mr. Valdez will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, 2013 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road, where the funeral service is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor Matthew Garcia officiating. Concluding service and interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho Avenue, where he will be laid to rest.
