Elodia Maese Gater a resident of Cedar Crest, N.M. passed away Oct. 19, 2012 at the age of 71 of pancreatic cancer. Tita, as she was affectionately known, was born and raised in Las Cruces until moving to Trenton, N.J. where she worked for the state of New Jersey in the Department of Treasury for 32 years. Upon her retirement Tita resettled to Las Cruces with her husband Ron where they resided until they moved to their current residence in Cedar Crest. Tita was very active in her neighborhood homeowner's association and was working as the secretary for the San Antonito Elementary School located in Sandia Park. Tita loved working with the children and staff. She is survived by her spouse Ronald B. Gater; her daughter Terry Johnson and husband Eric Johnson of Bossier City, La. and her grandchildren Eric Johnson, Jr, Thomas Johnson, and Kelci Johnson. She is also survived by her brothers Edward, Hector, and Armando Maese of Las Cruces, her brother Elias Maese of Las Vegas, N.M., and her sister's Esperanza Gomez and Minerva Maese of Albuquerque many nieces and nephews, and stepdaughter Ruth Ann Hartney and her three children of Long Island, N.Y. Mrs. Gater was preceded in death by her parents Estanislao and Anita Lucero Maese and her brother Robert Maese. Tita was a loving, caring and giving person and will be terribly missed.
