Ernest Carbonniere Ames, 84, died of cancer Friday, June 8, 2007 at La Posada in Las Cruces. He was born January 25, 1923 to Adelina Carbonniere and Ben N. Ames. He attended Holy Cross and Las Cruces High School. He was in construction since he was twelve. In World War II, he was an airplane mechanic and gunner on B-17s for the 3014th AAF BU. He was a saxophone player and a charter member with the New Horizon's Band. He was also a member of the DAV, he was a man of many talents.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Alice Oliver Ames; daughters Cecilia Ward and husband Alvin of Mesquite, NM, Ethel Place and husband Pat of Bloomfield, NM and Sandra Tutor of Las Cruces, sisters Genevieve Hammond of Las Cruces and Anna Marie Valdez of Anthony, cousins Mary Louise Macaluso of California, Bill Carbonniere of Nevada. Jeanette Apodaca and Irene Goodwin and spouses of Las Cruces. Brother in law Joseph Oliver of California. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and two great-great grandsons. Many nieces and nephews and many good friends.
At his request, cremation has taken place and there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either New Hope Cancer Center, 4351 E. Lohman Avenue, Suite 209, Las Cruces, NM 88011 or Mesilla Valley Hospice, 299 Montana Avenue, Las Cruces, NM 88005. Arrangements by Graham's Mortuary and Mesilla Valley Crematory.
