Estella M. Fierro, of Las Cruces, passed on to eternal life Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013. Estella was born in Las Cruces on Jan. 24, 1922 to Demetrio and Angela Chavez. She married Arturo C. Fierro on Feb. 15, 1947. They had five loving children, Lionel Fierro, Marcella Fierro, Elva Sanchez, Eloy Fierro and Herman Fierro. Estella is survived by her sons Lionel (Gloria) Fierro, Herman (Karen) Fierro; daughters Marcella Fierro and Elva (George) Sanchez; grandchildren, Anthony (Barbara) Fierro, Renee (Scott) Berry, Emily Fierro, Clarissa (Paul) Sandoval; four great-grandchildren, Matthew, Alyssa, Amy and Amber Berry; and sister-in-law Elisa Lujan, of Utah. She was preceded in death by her husband Arturo Fierro, son Eloy Fierro, parents Demetrio and Angela Chavez, brothers Ramon and Robert Chavez, sister Angelica Telles, grandchild Lisa Sanchez, sisters-in-law Corina Fierro and Rafaela (Joe) Chavez, and brothers-in-law Demetrio Fierro and Ramiro Lujan. Estella devoted her life to being a loving wife and mother and homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, baking and gardening. Most recently, she especially enjoyed spending time with her friends at Golden Mesa and attending scheduled events. Visitation is Sunday Dec. 15, 2013 at the La Paz-Grahams Funeral Home Chapel from 4 to 7 p.m. with funeral service following on Monday at 12:30 p.m. at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church with internment to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
