Frances "Angelita" Arellano Garcia, 78, a resident of Corpus Christi, Texas, and formerly of Silver City, passed away Sept. 12, 2013. She was born Oct. 10, 1934, in Santa Rita to Francisco and Felipa Arellano. After graduation, she worked at a store in Silver City. She relocated to El Paso, Texas, to pursue a career in nursing. She met Jesse Garcia, an Army sergeant and veteran of the Korean War. After his retirement from the Army, they settled in Corpus Christi. Mrs. Garcia loved being with family, having huge dinners, barbecues, traveling, music and watching novellas. She was always full of life and loved to laugh. Her family was the most important thing in her life. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jesus Garcia; and brothers, Martin Arellano and Johnny Arellano. Mrs. Garcia is survived by her children. Susan Roffman, Jesse Garcia Jr., Debra G. Stice and Mary F. Mercada; 10 grandchildren, Kimberly Garcia, Jason Allen, Julian Garcia, Christina Garcia, Michael A. Stice, Shelby Roffman, Mercedez Garcia, Avery Roffman, Devin Roffman and Andrew Sawinski; one sister. Socorro Arellano, and two brothers, Ben Arellano (Carol) and Tony Arellano (Liz), all of Silver City; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation was held Tuesday. Sept. 17, at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary following. A Funeral Mass was held Wednesday Sept. 18, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Corpus Christi with interment following at Seaside Memorial Park.
