Gerardo "Gerald" C. Renteria, 31, a piece of our family puzzle was lost on Monday, Dec. 24, 2012. Gerald was born on Aug. 31, 1981 in Las Cruces, N.M. to Ruben Renteria Sr. and Gloria Cano. Growing up, Gerald was an active and spunky child who was a big fan of the Atlanta Braves. He enjoyed barbequing and playing games with his family. Gerald graduated from Deming High School in 1999 where he also continued to follow what he loved to do best, playing baseball. He was a superb athlete – from T-ball to the NMSU Aggies baseball team. He was the first walk-on from Deming High School to make the NMSU Aggies under head coach Gary Ward from 2001-2002. We will miss him very much. He is survived by both of his parents; four brothers, Ruben Renteria Jr. and his wife Melissa of Pueblo, Colo.; Adrian Renteria of Las Cruces; Jacob Renteria and his wife Maria of Perryton, Texas and Matthew Renteria and his wife Lillian of Perryton; one sister, Ruthie Renteria of Las Cruces, paternal grandmother, Irene Renteria and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
