It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Gilberto R. Fierro, 63 of Las Cruces on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. "Fierro," as he was fondly known to family and friends, was born February 4, 1949 in Delicias, Chihuahua, Mexico to Jose and Socorro Rodriguez Fierro. He worked at Fletcher Farms as a farm hand for twenty-three years, and was a member of the prayer group - El Buen Pastor at IHM Cathedral. Those left to mourn his passing include his loving wife of 40 years, Margarita Chavarria Fierro of the family home; one son, Gilberto Fierro, Jr. and wife Antonia of Las Cruces; three brothers, Ignacio, Francisco and David Fierro; six sisters, Maria Felix, Magdalena, Rosa, Raquel, Margarita and Martha. Other survivors include three grandchildren, Maria, Joaquin and Sol. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Gerardo and Ernesto Fierro. Visitation for Mr. Fierro will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral, 1240 S. Espina where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 7 p.m. Family and friends will join together to celebrate the Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012 in the same church with the Reverend Martin Cordero, Celebrant. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Masonic Cemetery, 760 S. Compress Road where he will be laid to rest. Serving as casket bearers will be Gilberto Fierro, Jr., Jesus Chavarria, Mario Rodriguez, David Fierro, Antonio Loera and Antonio Sandoval, Jr. The Fierro Family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels, 300 E.
