James Henry Voiers died in his sleep Oct. 31, 2012, in Las Cruces of natural causes. He was born Jan. 20, 1928 in Deming, N.M. James was the only child of Grover Cleveland and Cecile Prudhomme Voiers. James married Vida Marie Gardner on Jan. 8, 1947 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Deming. Vida passed away in June 2003. During his life, he owned and managed the local Pepsi Cola Bottling Company, established the Sun Cable TV, Rural Television System, Voy Yae Deming Waters and Life Vending Company. Pit Park in Deming was renamed Voiers Park in honor of Vida and James Voiers for their many years of community service. James is survived by his children Cleveland Jay Voiers and wife Debra of Las Cruces, Vickie Marie Morrow of Phoenix, Ariz. and Melanie Cecile Pool and husband James Richard of Silver City; two grandchildren, Tana Gottlieb and husband Kyle and their daughter Kenna of Las Cruces, Adam Pool and wife Melissa of Phoenix; two step-grandchildren Jennifer Kirwan and husband Patrick of Kansas City, Kan., Catherine Young and husband Jason of Dallas; and one cousin Jacqueline Guaderrama of Albuquerque. A rosary service will be held Sunday Nov. 4, 2012 at 6 p.m. led by Suzanne Lundy at Baca's Funeral Chapel located at 811 South Gold Ave. in Deming. The funeral mass will be celebrated Monday, Nov. 5, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church located at 614 South Copper St. in Deming. Fr. Ronald Machado will officiate. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church fellowship hall after the mass. Cremation has been entrusted to Baca's Mimbres Crematory.
