Dr. John Lund

Dr. John Carroll Lund, 71 of Silver City, NM passed away peacefully Monday, November 7, 2011. He was born in Sidney, Montana on March 3, 1940 and was raised in Williston, North Dakota where he also graduated from high school. He attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota and graduated with a degree in science. John started his medical career at the University of North Dakota Medical School and graduated with a medical degree from the University of Omaha, Nebraska. He served as a doctor in the United States Air Force for 2years, and then completed his residency in surgery at Tucson Medical Center in Tucson, AZ. He practiced in Alamogordo, NM for 7years and moved to Silver City, NM where he practiced surgery, sports and family medicine for 28years. He retired 2years ago. As a past time, John was a professional magician, performing for PTA fundraisers, parties and for clubs in the area. He is survived by his wife, Donna Lund of 47yrs, daughter, Kerri Shaw (Tom); daughter, Jole' Coakley (Patrick) all from Tampa, FL; foster son, Paul Leewright of Blaine, TN; sister, Karen Jacobson (John) of Palm Desert, CA; four grandchildren, Jonathan, Cameron, Megan and Kennedy; numerous nieces and nephews; along with many friends. In the midst of sadness, come and celebrate his return to our Father's home in Heaven! A memorial service will be celebrated at 1pm on Saturday, November 12th at the Messiah Lutheran Church at 25th and Swan followed by military honors. Cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory.
