Joseph A. Cobley, 83, longtime resident of Las Cruces, entered eternal life Sunday, June 17, 2012. He was born Jan. 29, 1929 in Albuquerque to Rafael and Sofia Archibeque Cobley. Mr. Cobley served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict; was a member of the American Legion as well as the Moose Lodge. He retired as a fire inspector from White Sands Missile Range, and continued working in this capacity with Doña Ana County. Survivors include his wife, Lucy P. Cobley of the family home; three sons; Ralph Cobley and Ruben Madrid (Cathy) all of Las Cruces, and Johnny Madrid (Daniella) of Anthony; one daughter, Delilah Cobley of Albuquerque. Other survivors include four grandchildren, Renee Armijo, Patrick Madrid, Adriana Boulton and Lauren Lancaric; one great-granddaughter, Molly Sofia Boulton and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Paul A and Raymond Cobley, sisters, Clementina Sanchez, Aurora Lucero and Dolores Garcia. Celebration of life services for Mr. Cobley will include a prayer vigil scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2012 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral, 1240 S. Espina with a memorial mass to follow immediately thereafter. Inurnment of cremains will take place following the mass in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho Ave. Military honors will be accorded by a NM National Guard honor guard as well as the Marine Corps League - El Perro Diablo Detachment.
