Kenneth Leroy Sparks, 75, passed from this earthly plane after a long cardiac illness, on December 14th, 2007 in Houston TX in the company of his family. He was a beloved and valued member of his community. He farmed cotton in Arkansas as a youth, served in the Army as a paratrooper in Korea, was a house painter in Arizona until relocating to Silver City in 1957 to attend WNMU. He earned a Masters of Fine Arts and taught art and house construction at Cobre High School and was a building contractor. He served as Director of Housing and Maintenance at WNMU, NMMI Roswell and Lamar College in Beaumont TX.

He was preceded in death by his wife Juanita Faye Bonannan Sparks in 1991 and his second wife Martha Dugas Broussard Sparks in 2006. He is survived and honored by five children, Gary Sparks of Portland OR, Wyatt Sparks of Ruidoso, Twana Sparks MD of Silver City, Keith Sparks of Houston TX and Darla Daigle of Groves TX, their spouses and nine grandchildren.
